Mobile filming toolkit

Three essentials for in-office video

What to add to the phone already in your pocket to film good video in your own office. Two of the three we use on our own shoots.

  1. 01Steady

A phone held on a stabilizer, filming a dental operatory

    DJI stabilizer

This is a very handy tool to have. It can serve as a tripod for filming informational videos, or as a stabilizer to keep your phone steady during b-roll shots.

It takes a little time to play around with, but the learning curve is quick. We use this all the time on our shoots.

  2. 02Light

A Neewer ring light on its stand, with its carry bag, remote and color filters

    Adjustable ring light

Lighting is everything. A ring light behind the camera to brighten your face can completely change the feel of a video.

You do not need to buy this exact light, but try to find one that can adjust brightness and color temperature. White light is not always great.

  3. 03Sound

A small lav mic clipped to the collar of a white T-shirt

    Microphone

There are a couple of different versions of this lav mic. The one we use plugs directly into the charging port of any iPhone, version 14 or earlier.

With an iPhone 15 or an Android phone, go with the wireless option from Hollyland. Failing that, there are plenty of other lav mics with receivers that plug straight into a USB-C port.

Ready to say hello?

We do not work with everyone, and you should not either. The first call is where we both find out.
